About Us
CinemaaOnline is a movement of film enthusiasts aimed at demystifying the intimidating aura around “good cinema”. We intend to bring together various sensibilities of cinemaniacs from around the globe under a single umbrella and discuss and debate our perceptions & interpretations of the art, science & the business of cinema.
The site has come a long way from its inception in December, 2009 when it started off as a rather aimless Beta version, trying to be the Jack of all trades. Over time, we realised ourselves better, understood our audience and formed a synergy between our ideals, strengths and the needs of the market. The ideals were based on informed appreciation of cinema from a layperson’s perspective. Our strengths were our independence and approachability. The need of the market was a balancing factor between the forces of mainstream & parallel, commercial & arthouse etc. pulling away in opposite directions. We don’t form part of a tribe. Our only allegiance is good cinema. And that’s where we intend to fit in.
We talk, walk and live cinema. And we welcome others of our ilk, irrespective of their degree of immersion in the faith, to come and share the joy of this exquisite art form with us. We are affable, approachable and nice to engage with, at the same time, hold a strong and unique voice of our own. Though at no point will you find us unreasonable or obstinate. Worst case scenario, we can always agree to disagree.
We also welcome voices that want to be heard. We’ll provide you with a platform to showcase your body of work. Be it writing, filmmaking, acting or anything else under the umbrella of cinema. You may read more about contributions to CinemaaOnline here.
